The Body and Blood of Jesus according to Catholics.

Is the Bread we eat in the Holy Mass the real Body of Jesus? How about the wine.. The wine that we drink in the Holy Eucharist.. Is it the Blood of Jesus?


For us Catholics, the eating of Bread (unleavened/leavened bread; oscha) is like receiving the Body of Jesus, same with the drinking of Wine (unfermented grape juice) is like drinking the Blood of Jesus Christ. Anti-Catholics say that why did we took the New Testament literally..? For it is written in the 4 Evangelical Books (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John), the Last Supper.

PASSOVER - the way for us to be saved.. [2 Kings 23:21
The king gave this order to all the people: "Celebrate the Passover to the LORD your God, as it is written in this Book of the Covenant.]

In the New Testament, the first event that happened there is in the book of St. Paul, 1 Corinthians for it is first written, followed by Mark, and so on...



1 Corinthians 11:23-29

The Lord's Supper


For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread;

and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me."

In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.

Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.

But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly.

* Anti-Catholics say that when St. Paul was proclaiming the Lord's supper, the drinking of wine and the eating of bread was ONLY A SYMBOL. If so, why did Jesus said in the verses above, "do this"...?

Matthew

'Matthew said, "He took bread and said, 'Take this, this is My Body.' He took a cup, gave it to them, and said, 'This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many.' "


John 6:53-56

So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves.

"He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
"For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.
"He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.


It is written on the Bible that in able for us to be saved, it is not only FAITH that is needed, but also good works. --- one way of good works is by eating the Body of Jesus (oscha) and by drinking the Blood of Jesus (wine) for God said, "do this in memory of me.."


EVERYDAY MASS: IS IT NEEDED?
- it is said in the Bible that we celebrate the passover once in a month..

the passover of us catholics is the Holy Mass, and we do this everyday even though it is testified in the Bible that we should celebrate it only once in a month..




SUMMARY AND EXPLANATION:

Passover --- the way to be saved ---what is the passover of Catholics? --- Holy Mass --- Holy Communion --- we eat the Bread and drink the Wine ---why do we repeat it? --- because God commanded, "do this everytime you remember me" (1 Cor. 11:23-29) --- what was God reffering to do when He said "DO THIS".?? --- please read 1 Cor. 11:23:29 --- eat the bread and drink the wine --- so why do we repeat it? --- BECAUSE WE REMEMBER HIM EVERYDAY..

The Holy Cross

Exodus 20:4 - (NASB) You shall not make yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in Heaven above, or on the Earth beneath or in the water beneath the Earth.

Leviticus 26:1 - You shall not make for yourselves idols, nor shall you set up for yourselves an image or a sacred pillar, nor shall you place a figured stone in your land to bow down to it; for I am the LORD your God.

Jeremiah 10:2-10 >>

* This Bible Verses above are what Anti-Catholics use to attack us. For them, our Holy Cross is a form of idolatry.

IDOLATRY - the worship of idols or false gods.

Also, it is written on Jeremiah 10:5, that this idols are shaped like SCARECROWS.

Let's see what the Bible testifies..

1 Corinthians 1:18 - For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

>> here it says that the WORD OF THE CROSS has two meanings:
1) for those who are suffering/perishing, it is FOOLISHNESS.
2) for those who are being saved, it is THE POWER OF GOD.


WHICH DO WE BELONG?

* Duhh.. Are we being saved? YES. so for us Catholics, the WORD OF THE CROSS is the power of God.


1 Corinthians 2:5 - so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.

>> the Cross is the POWER OF GOD according to 1 Corinthians 1:18.. And on this verse (1 Cor. 2:5), our faith should not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the Power of God.

* question: What is the Power of God?
* question 2: where should our faith rest?


Galatians 6:14 - But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

Jesus is God

Right now, im probably sure you're confused about the title. You're asking yourselves why and how..

* Non-Catholics use the Bible Verse John 8:40 to proclaim that Jesus is only Human..
John 8:40 - "But as it is, you are seeking to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do.


in the Bible, it is written almost 30 times that Jesus is a Son of Man and Son of God. (how?)

God (not human;) - chose - Mary (human, virgin) - to bore a child - Jesus (human because his mother is a human too)

--- this is why Jesus is called Son of Man (Mary)

to understand more: cats bore kittens.. dogs bore puppies.. a human bores a human.. how come Jesus is God if his mother is just a human?...


Does God have a child? YES.

Matthew 1:23 - BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL," which translated means, "GOD WITH US."

Proverbs 30:3-4 - Neither have I learned wisdom, Nor do I have the knowledge of the Holy One. Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped the waters in His garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name or His son's name? Surely you know!

--- this is why Jesus is called Son of God (God the Father)



Isaias 9:6 - For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.


* it is obviously known that the Child in this verse is Jesus, and Jesus is Mighty God and Eternal Father..


Exodus 3:14 - God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM"; and He said, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'"

* what does I AM WHO I AM means?
-- in the Greek Bible, "I am" sounds like the Hebrew name "Yahweh" traditionally transliterated as Jehovah. This name is representive in this translation as "the Lord" in capital letters, following a wide spread in English Versions. (source: Philippine Bible Society)

I am who I am - i am the Lord; i am Jehovah; i am Yahweh.


John 8:57-59

[Jews: ""You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?""]
[Jesus: Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born,"I am"]
Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple.

in this verse, the Jews were mad at Jesus because He was proclaiming that He was "I am"
(I am = the Lord)

John 5:17-26

But He answered them, "My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working."For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God. ...so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

John 10:30 - "I and the Father are one."

when Satan was putting Jesus into temptation, Jesus said ''YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.'' (Matthew 4:7)
